Bitter Sweet V 1.0

It seems like life in Monash just started. Boy time does fly. 4 years on and I'm almost at the end of the journey already..almost..hopefully there won't be anymore hiccups.

Throughout this journey, I've met various people, just name me and I've met them. Crazy, cool, smart, annoying and funny to name a few characteristics.

Turning the clock back 4 years, I remember just joining Monash and was very depressed due to lack of friends and companion (although the class was very big). Everyone seemed to be not friendly (TPK will surely beg to differ, arguing that I lan see and do not want to mix around). The handful that I know of didn't really click well largely due to language barrier I would say. In order to overcome my depression, I used to travel back to my Taylor's apartment to spend the weekend with my old housemates (Chong Bing and Ngie Chang) and Su Ann. A huge thanks goes to them for saving my life then.

Move on to 2nd year, the number of students branched into Mechanical were just a handful (most went into Electrical). This allowed the mechanical bunch to get to know each other well. The one who can't get along gets left out. Fortunately for me, together with Wei Lun and Zhou, we formed the 'holy trinity of noise'. No matter where we go, we won't be out of the spotlight. Wanna know why? Well I'm sure most of you know how loud I laugh. Imagine when it triple folds. That is 'HOLY TRINITY OF NOISE'. During exam period, anyone studying with us will move out due to the noise made by us. We even had friendly bets to predict how long a group of students can last before they lose their patience and move out of the room. Some move out quietly, some curse. We will feel bad for a while and then back to making noise again. Personally I would say the second year was the best year in Monash.

During the third year, most of them went over to Australia, leaving the already small batch into even smaller group. But new friends were made in the shape of juniors: Alex and Aqel to name a few. This two smart ass introduced gung ho studying style. Stay all day long in uni to study during exams. I kinda liked it given that I can't really study with the distractions of internet at home. Aqel even went one level ahead and slept in uni in the name of 'studying'.

And finally the forth year. I guess I don't really need to explain much about this year as I started blogging during this year. So if you want to know, feel free to browse through all my posts.

Fusion Part 2 during my birthday

After all the knowledge, laughter, misunderstanding, compromise and 'stuff' shared and exchanged, it has come down to the part where we all venture into different paths in life. It has been an unforgettable experience. I would like to thank everyone who made me who I am today and hope we will never lose contact and will still find time to keep touch or meet up for yum cha session every now and then.

Good luck and I will miss you guys.

PS-If you realise, the topic states that it is version 1.0. That means there'll be another version on something that happened to my friends and I recently. I'll update when I have enought materials to write about..which I think shouldn't take long..

Randoms V1.0

A lot of things have come and passed through this time (the period where I didn't update my blog). Just that it was quite hard for me to find time to update as the workload was just unbearable. Now that some have been done and dusted, I've got some time to spare on my blog. I'll try to highlight some of them which is worth mentioning.

No Sun No Fun
This is my solar water distiller. No...not the top picture but the one a the bottom. Well it is not purely mine. Both TPK and I worked together on this. If I don't give proper credit to TPK, he will send me a message that will sound something like this, "Slutty la!! YOUR solar water distiller all!!".
Well after a few modifications, it is capable of harnessing about 400ml of clean water a day. Not bad considering most materials used was of standard household stuffs. During this times, the Sun is our best friend as without him shining upon us, there won't be any result to show.

Two final year students wearing slippers in the lab. Shh..don't tell the lab technician

During the early stages of the testing, it always rained whenever we put up the rig which made us dub our design as the solar rain maker. But after some modifications, the maximum we have reached is about 600ml.

All Talk and No Substance
The 3rd and final presentation of the semester, which also happened to be the most important of them all. The presentation on my FYP. I'd have to say it went well. Except that our supposedly 25minutes long presentation was somehow cut short to 13minutes. And also for some reason, all the lecturers were gobsmacked by our presentation that no one asked any question.

The highlight of the presentation was again Tommy and Vj. Tommy being his usual self, while explaining something about his preheating method, used the word Penunu Bunsen instead of Bunsen Burner and the whole theater erupted into laughter prompting TPK to name them as the engine dream team: machodian (referring to Vj the macho and cool factor) and a comedian (referring to none other than Tommy).

I guess Carol does not need introduction in my blog. She as usual swept all the lecturers with her commanding presentation.

Work Overload
All the workload *insert reports, assignments, case study and laboratory work here* were given wave after wave that it seemed to be no ending to it. It was way too many submissions during the week that I nearly lost control and did this to my beloved computer.

Thanks to the crash course from Vj, I managed to compose and maintain my coolness under extreme circumstances. Now that some of the works have been submitted, there's more time to sit down and slack a bit. Just a bit as I've my research paper and thesis paper need to be done as well. Exams starts in3weeks time and have to buck up and find time to squeeze in studying as well.

B'day
Well over the month or so, two birthdays came and passed. One was Vj's and the other was TPK's.
TPK's Cake

Vj's Cake

Vj opted for a barbecue at his house while TPK treated us to Shabu Shabu in Puchong. Although it's a bit late, better late than never. Happy belated birthday wishes guys.

At Monash Project Lab. If only Carol knew, Jason wouldn't be smiling

United We Stand
I just realized I've never really blogged about the football team that I support in my blog. For the uninformed, I support the Red Devils. UEFA Champions League Final in Rome against Barcelona need no introduction is looming around the corner. Hope Man Utd can retain the title. And for the first time in my life I'm going to watch Man Utd performing live thanks to their pre-season Asia Tour. Really looking forward to that occasion.

I think that is all I have for now. Back to work and racing against time to meet the datelines. Although presentation has passed, More experiments need to be carried out to obtain consistency.

Till then chiao!!

Presentation

"Thank you Vj. Good morning everyone." It was supposed to be like this. But I ended up saying "Good morning everyone. Thank you VJ." Haha..but I think most didn't notice it.

I think my whole group did very well. Jon was good, TPK was trying to explain some things the class were totally clueless at, Tommy although memorized a few lines, he's getting better at it and Vj as usual, was calm and collected (wanna cover macho only). As for myself, I did pretty well, making funny faces and cracking jokes when other group member of mine were busy or shall I say trying to convey the message through to the rest of the class. I even went on to give Jason Ng a mini version of my laughter between my presentation coz he decided to laugh at me just coz I look dead serious while presenting (which he claims so not me). I can be serious at times my friend (wahh...scary le). Managed to crack some jokes as well in between my lines which was not practiced earlier. Tommy was quite upset with me though as I addressed him as Tummy instead. But it is all solely for fun and laughter, no hard feelings man.

I think all those presenting for bout 4years or so really is a good practice. A friend of mine once told me Monash is very good in terms of nurturing their students to do presentation so that when work comes knocking, you won't have trouble in expressing yourself. Well, I've got to agree on that.

The rain is really getting to my nerves nowadays. Making my FYP to not progress and making me to keep on postponing my running plan. And I think I'm getting fatter again..call me vain.

Edit
Today is a very sad day for me. My only hope of living my life is slowly fading. The very same word "One day, it'll come" I've been uttering to myself, seems all so wasted. I am so speechless, powerless, my motivation to study has gone. My hands are trembling, I can't type properly..all this because..MEGAN FOX IS A MAN!!!! I wanna cry. Source

Hopefully it is just a propaganda to hype up the upcoming Transformers movie..*fingers crossed*

Genting

It's been sometime since I've updated. Mainly due to nothing much really interesting happening lately. As promised in the previous post, this post is on the recent Genting trip that we had on the 18 and 19 of February, 2weeks before our semester commenced. All the 'batangs' from the mechanical engineering batch (TPK, Vj, Jason Ng, Jason Kok, Alex, Aqel, Kuo Haw, Wei Lun and myself) went for the trip.

If not for the free 1 night accommodation at First World Hotel courtesy of Vj and the countless amount of discount coupons by Jason Kok, none would have ended up going. Jason Kok was like our Santa Claus on the trip, popping out the coupons on almost anything that we wanted to try.

We drove up in TPK's and Aqel's car to the cable car station and took cable car up. Jason Ng and surprisingly Wei Lun is afraid of cable car rides.
Ng's cable car phobia taking control

We did what most people in Genting does. Play! But no one gambled. Maybe it was because of me who didn't bring any long pants with me. So they didn't wanna leave me alone. Sorry guys.

The worst part was getting to eat a proper food over there. On the first day, for lunch, all decided to eat at Burger Kings. But walked to the KFC beside instead after stunned by the price of their (Burger Kings) set meals.

At night, Jason Ng crashed on the floor while Vj, Wei Lun, myself and Alex took the bed. Vj and Wei Lun occupied a blanket while the other blanket was supposed to be for myself and Alex but ended up on Alex and Jason Ng as Ng slowly pulled the blanket to him leaving me with no protection what so ever from the freezing cold. The part where both Ng and i trying to pull the blanket was really funny, with Alex in the middle totally clueless on what was happening.

I wished i had a lot of pictures but Vj refused to pass me the pictures he took so I have to make do with Aqel's pictures instead.
Vj, Jason Kok and Jason Ng. Ng happy happy before his terrifying cable car trip up to Genting

Alex kena tangkap basah trying to do something naughty to TPK when TPK is preoccupied with his keropok

Alex rough actions caused TPK to pass out and made Alex regret for not being able to control himself under the cold

This is...oops..sorry wrong picture :-P

Wanna know why TPK is not looking at the camera? Because he can't see shit without his glasses.

The following series of pictures will explain to you what reverse civilization of human being is. Enjoy

Check out how Wei Lun covering macho at the side of pic

And my favorite picture (because i'm doing the leg thingy of course) and because of Wei Lun's gay pose

PS - Sorry I've not been updating my blog as regularly as last time (This is where Vj will drop a message in my cbox saying sorry no cure). I just couldn't find anything interesting to blog on. Maybe I'll try to dig out something and blog but my univeristy work has been really piling up and taking up most of my time. And my FYP is also picking up the paces although there's stumbling block every now and then. Thanks for all the people who have asked me to update regularly esp you 'oldman'. It shows that there's people who do drop by every now and then to check my blog although I've not been updating it. I'll try my best to update it more. Till then chiaoz

Me Birthday

Although this is a bit late, I just managed to get hold of the pictures and some videos taken during my small birthday party with my classmates at Sushi Zanmai Sunway Pyramid on the 12th of February.

The night before was Jason Lai's birthday and the whole engineering bunch gave him a surprise visit (more like crashing his romantic dinner) to this restaurant called Full House in Ara Damansara. We surprised him with a birthday cake and we ate it finish before we even ordered our main course. And after we had our dinner and just having a chat, another cake came and I was thinking, "Very good. Second cake just in time for dessert and was happily clapping and singing song thinking the cake was meant for Jason Lai. Then I realized all the eyes were on me instead of Jason Lai. It struck me quite late that the cake was actually for me as an advance birthday celebration. I felt like a retard clapping and singing for myself. Come to think about it now, it still cracks me up.

Back to my birthday party, there were 13 of the who turned up and we had lots of fun laughing and making havoc in the restaurant which was nothing new to us considering we have been famous for making so much noise that we usually keep track of the time taken to displace the people on our next table to a table further away from us. And the most noise were generated by none other than Wei Lun and myself.

After the dinner session, we all went to Starbucks for a yum cha session and spent about an hour or so there before we part for the night.

I'll pick a few pictures and let the pictures do the talking instead

And last but not least, my favorite picture of the night. TPK being possesed and Vj looking overly worried on TPK's condition while Jason Ng happily strutting his stuff not realizing what was happening behind him.

I had blast that night and I hoped everyone who came had a enjoyable time as well. Thanks for making birthday this year an unforgettable one. Thanks also for Tommy for giving us a demo of his cheong kay skills by performing a song for me.

Wish you were there Sophie

Next post..GENTING!!!!

Excuse Me Sir, You Are Balding

That's exactly what the girl at Jusco asked when I was back in Melaka, accompanying my mum for her grocery shopping.

Apparently, this girl works for some Hair treatment saloon and she offered to show me how bad my baldness is by using some high tech gadgets..which turns out to be a camera that focuses on your scalp and can determine how many strands of hair a follicle (is this the correct term) has. Supposedly, a normal person can have up to 3 strands growing in an opening. Mine unfortunately has either two or a single strand.

She continued to explain that my scalp is oily and has dandruff which blocks the hair from growing. And then she showed some pictures of hair loss among adults and she told me the moment she saw me, she was expecting me to be around 28-29 years old. She told me my hair is of a person in his 40s'. How sad is that!!! When I told her i just turned 23, her face went something like this

And then came the allergic part to all Indians. The part where we have to pay to get a treatment for my hair. The moment she said, "this special offer of RM48", my mum immediately said, ok we have to leave. BYE BYE and dragged me along with her.

I actually do not need a stranger to tell me that I am balding, I knew about it long ago. Being an Indian, it is hard to accept that I am losing hair when I have hairs growing at all sorts of places on my body except for my head. The reason behind it can be blamed on my family background. My dad is partially bald. But close friends of mine will not believe me when I blame it on my poor dad for my lack of hair growth.

Hair loss can also be related to excessive masturbation. I am not going to go further into this topic. You google it yourself.

My final semester starts today and here I am blogging rather than getting a good sleep. Class starts at 1pm. So no rush there. Marketing exam results will be out this week. I hope God still loves me. I'm counting on You to get me through that paper.

I'll do a post on my birthday party and the Genting trip we had during the break when I've collected all the pictures from my friends. Till then good luck to me and my friends to get through this semester unscatched.
